Cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol, also known as 1-hexadecanol and palmityl alcohol. The multi-purpose non-gelatinizing thickener, which is commonly used in the cosmetics industry to achieve a stable product consistency, consists of 95% fatty acids obtained from vegetable oils, especially palm oil. It is supplied in odorless white flakes, which are insoluble in cold water and only very slightly soluble in hot water and alcohol.
Usage
Cetyl alcohol is used in cosmetics and personal care products, especially in lotions and creams. It is an emollient, moisturizer, viscosity stabilizer and foam enhancer. Cetyl alcohol is added to oils and melts during the oil phase and is a good secondary emulsifier.
Application - max. dose: for shampoos / conditioners up to 6%, make-up 0.5 - 10%, body lotion 3%, face cream 6%, face wash 6%, face mask 6%, body wash 6%. Melt at 54 ° C.
