At the room temperature the solid sulfur, a yellow solid. It has a very faint odor. Burns with a blue flame to produce carbon dioxide. The sulfur is insoluble in water, slightly soluble in the non-polar solvents (benzene, toluene) but soluble in carbon disulfide. Sulfur is widely used in modern industry. It is used in dry batteries, cleaners, Fungicide and as vulcanizing agent. Because it is flammable used in the manufacture of matches, gunpowder and cartridges for fireworks.
