Information
L-Ascorbic acid or vitamin C as well is a white crystalline powder. It has a melting point around 190°C, it is optical active. It dissolves easily in water, good in 95% ethanol and in acetone. It is sensitive to heat and as a strong antioxidant (reducing agent) it is strongly sensitive towards oxidation. In the absence of oxidating agents ascorbic acid is stable both in crystalline form and in solution.
