Information
Peppermint oil is prepared from the leaves and stem of peppermint. The oil has light yellow colour and typical scent of peppermint. It is a clear liquid without precipitates. It does not contain added solvents, preservatives, dyes or antioxidants.
The main ingredients of the peppermint oil are: l-menthol, menthone, neomenthol, isomenthone, d-limonene, α-pinene, β-pinene, piperiton, pulegone. It contains natural insecticide pulegone (ca. 2%).
Usage
It is used in cosmetics. The suitability of usage should be tested by the producer of the final product.

Toxicological information
It may contain allergene d-limonene. It contains pulegone in small quantities (ca. 2%, naturally occuring compound in peppermint) which can be toxic in large quantities. No microorganisms neither their toxins were found in the product, it was not produced from genetically modified organisms.
LD50 (oral for pulegone): 470 mg/kg (rat)
