Information

Zinc oxide (ZnO formula) comprises oxygen compounds of zinc oxide. White powder, light yellow. When heated, the yellow, but upon cooling again acquire a white color. It is practically insoluble in water, but the acid and the strong base are dissolved, thus amphoteric. Insoluble in aqueous sodium chloride solution. The damping effect of the air absorbs carbon dioxide.

General usage

Zinc oxide is a white powder (mineral) which is mainly used in cosmetics. It is added to the sunscreen, soaps, makeup. It is also used as an antiseptic protective powder against scald a child or buttocks to the bleaching creams.

Storage

Zinc oxide gradually absorbs carbon dioxide upon exposure to air. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and wellventilated area, away from incompatible materials and food, and drink. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabelled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.
